Our family travels for 11 months across the Northern Hemisphere

All the deets: a minimum of pretension

26 days.

That’s the number of days from today until we return home to Vancouver on June 25, 2024. We left on August 1, 2023, that’s 303 days ago.

We are now grappling with the reality of our return home in less than a month while still attempting to stay present here in our little travel bubble.

It’s an interesting little dance.

We are doing things like figuring out how to reinsure our car, and who will pick us up from the airport in Vancouver (thanks mom and dad), and looking at the kids’ packing lists for summer camp.

At the same time we still have almost 2 weeks left here in Bali and another two weeks in Australia. Can you believe the riches? It’s incredible.

Noam and I are having conversations like “what do you want to take with you from this trip into life in Vancouver?” and “where do we go next?” and “do you think Vancouver will seem different or the same?” and thinking, “will it be weird to drive on the other side of the street when we get home?” and deciding “let’s get rid of even more stuff from our house when we move home.” The kids have each independently requested going straight to their Bubby and Zeide’s house for cookies, muffins and hugs. This is good, since we’ll be staying with them for a week before our home is ready for us to re-inhabit on July 2. Unfortunately, Avi will be away on Hornby when we first arrive. That reunion will have to wait until August.

I’m sure I’ll have lots to say about returnign home as we get closer, but at this point it seems both very soon and still quite theoretical, especially as Australia is still on the schedule.

Anyway, I just wanted to say that.

We will be home in less than a month. I wonder how we have changed.

I don’t think we will know the answer to that question, or the one’s above, for that matter until we’ve returned.

In the meantime, start the countdown, friends. We’ll be there soon.

Don’t forget to call me when you’re back! I’ll still be in town – probably won’t get to Hornby till the very end of June or early July, and I really want to see you guys! ❤️

yes! it’s been too long. we’ll be in “getting ready for camp” mode that first week, but I’m sure we can find some time to connect.
